Accepting Charitable Gifts: Thank You Notes to Donors & Gift Acceptance Policies (Webinar)

This webinar will cover tax aspects of gifts from your donors. You will learn how to thank your donors with letters and emails that meet IRS requirements for tax deductions. The webinar will also cover gift acceptance policies and help you determine whether a policy is needed for your organization and, if it is, how to build the right policy for your organization. 

Through this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Ensure donors acknowledgments are sufficient to meet IRS requirements for tax deductions
  • Determine whether your organization needs a gift acceptance policy
  • Identify tools for helping you build the right gift acceptance policy for your organization – it’s not one size fits all!

Intended Audience:
Staff and board members who are responsible for accepting and acknowledging charitable gifts.

About the Presenter:
Wendy Richards, J.D., is an attorney focusing exclusively on tax-exempt organizations. Wendy has over 10 years of experience and has worked with hundreds of nonprofit organizations. In 2017, Wendy started her own independent law practice in Maine. When not practicing law, Wendy enjoys time with family and books. Wendy also serves on the Maine Association of Nonprofits' Board of Directors.
