A Guide to Workplace Best Practices: How to Promote a Harassment-Free Workplace (Webinar)

There is growing awareness and concern at workplaces across the nation about ensuring our workplaces are respectful, positive, productive places of equal opportunity. With almost daily revelations of harassment and abuses of power in the workplace, countless questions arise: Will allegations arise in my workplace? What are my responsibilities as a manager, supervisor or employer if they do? What kind of conduct is harassment? How do we prevent it from occurring in our workplace? What do we do if we discover inappropriate conduct? What type of behavior can I complain about? What do I do if I feel uncomfortable?  

Join us for this webinar that will provide you with the information and tools you need to navigate these difficult questions.

This Event Will Cover:

  • An overview of the law of harassment in the workplace, including sexual harassment and all other types of harassment prohibited by law. 
  • The definition and examples of illegal harassment.
  • The rules regarding an employer’s obligation to train, prevent and investigate illegal harassment. 
  • Finally, this webinar will engage a discussion of best practices in the workplace to prevent harassment by presenting recent findings about where traditional training and prevention have missed the mark and emerging ideas around training and prevention.

Who Should Attend:
The laws against sexual harassment apply to all employers, regardless of the size and regardless of whether the employer is for profit or non-profit.  The webinar will be valuable to any nonprofit employer or anyone who wishes to better educate themselves around these issues.

About the Presenter:
Sally Morris is an attorney who has been practicing in the area of employment law and representing nonprofits for 25 years.She has defended nonprofit organizations before administrative agencies and in courts, provided general advice relating to managing employee related matters, she has conducted workplace discrimination investigations and she has assisted nonprofits with preparing policies and employee handbooks. Sally has also advised nonprofits on matters of corporate governance, charitable registrations and other regulatory compliance matters. She is passionate about nonprofits and the role they play in the community and has been a member of several nonprofit boards. Sally lives and practices law in Portland, Maine.
