Graceful Grammar and Punchy Punctuation: Everyday Writing for Your Organization

Apr 11, 2018, 1pm-4pm

This half-day workshop will revisit some fundamental writing skills that will help your written communication stand out as refined and impactful. Through interactive lecture content, group discussions, and short in-class projects, you’ll identify the areas of your writing that could benefit from some polishing. Participants will gain practical tips for achieving verb strength and excellence in grammar and punctuation. This workshop does not focus on specific kinds of writing strategies, such as grant writing or marketing content. However, participants will take away memorable, quick ‘n easy tricks for improving all areas of written communication, ensuring consistently clear, effective, professional writing for day-to-day organizational needs: email correspondence, news releases, and internal communication. If it’s been a few years since your last English class, join us for a fun and interactive workshop that will renew your dedication to active verbs and inspire an appreciation for the semicolon.

This Event Will Cover:

  • Receive and work through a short, handy workbook for go-to grammar and punctuation guidelines
  • Edit and improve work (the participant’s own or sample writing) with a keen eye on active verbs and excellent grammar and punctuation
  • Set goals for individual writing improvement and a plan to achieve them
  • Consider some suggested email etiquette and strategies for everyday electronic communication

Who Should Attend:
Anyone interested in refining everyday writing and editing skills, as well as anyone who sends and receives massive amounts of emails.
