Director of Development

317 Main Community Music Center

About 317 Main Community Music Center
Our Mission: 317 Main Community Music Center (317 Main) encourages creative expression, personal growth, and community connection through music. 317 Main brings the power of music to people of all ages and abilities from across southern and mid-coast Maine. The organization, founded in 2004, has grown every year and now serves more than 500 people/week through our on-site and community partnership programs.  Currently in the public phase of a $4MM capital campaign to double our programming capacity, as well as being a recent recipient of a MacKenzie Scott grant award, 317 Main is poised for continued significant growth and new programming opportunities.

Position Summary
317 Main is looking for an experienced, energetic, and outwardly-focused development professional to lead the development team, expand and deepen our community connections, and help the organization to reach its new potential to be a destination in New England for music education and enrichment.  Over the last 10 years, 317 Main has focused on building a culture of philanthropy.  This has been done by developing deeper relationships with the many people who participate in the 317 Main community and creating management systems to support the development activities.

The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to create the strategy for 317 Main’s development function, build an effective development team to achieve the various annual fund initiatives, support the completion of the capital campaign to raise $4MM to expand the Yarmouth facility, and build on the success of our fundraising activities over the last few years.

317 Main has an annual operating budget just over $1MM, of which around 35% is comprised of contributed revenue received from major donors, grants, event proceeds, corporate donations, and other revenue sources.  To date, we have raised approximately $3.3MM toward the $4MM capital campaign goal.  The public phase of the campaign will get under way this summer and we will be breaking ground in September of this year.  With the new space, we anticipate our annual budget will grow to $1.6MM to $2MM in the next three to five years.
