The Maine Developmental Services Oversight & Advisory Board (MDSOAB) is seeking an Executive Director who exhibits passion and independent leadership skills, coupled with a deep understanding of and commitment to individuals with intellectual disabilities in Maine.
MDSOAB is tasked in Maine Statute with providing independent oversight over programs and services for adults with intellectual disabilities or autism that are provided or supported by any agency or department of State Government. The MDSOAB is focused on systemic concerns affecting the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities or autism, including issues surrounding health and safety, inclusion, identification of needs and desires of persons eligible for services, the timely meeting of the identified needs and effective and efficient delivery of services and supports.
Provide advice and systemic recommendations to the commissioner, the Governor and the Legislature regarding policies, priorities, budgets and legislation affecting the rights and interests of persons with intellectual disabilities or autism
The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written skills, along with an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, organizations and government agencies. The candidate must be able to work efficiently and independently in a variety of settings, recognize priorities and work under the direction of the Board. In addition, the Executive Director must be a confident advocate for individuals with intellectual disabilities, adept at public speaking and proficiently manage his / her time.
This .75 FTE position offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include a flexible work schedule, mileage reimbursement, sick and vacation policy, and additional contribution towards health care. Some evening and weekend work is required. Statewide travel is expected.
