Program Coordinator

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program seeks a Program Coordinator. MCHPP‘s mission is to provide hungry people with access to healthy food, work to improve the quality of their lives by partnering with others, and serve them in a manner that recognizes their dignity.

This is a 35 hour, benefits eligible,  Monday thru Friday position. Applicants should have availability to work occasional holidays and Saturdays (once per month).

The Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for the everyday operations of the Soup Kitchen and will provide support to MCHPP’s other programs and future initiatives. First and foremost, this candidate must have a desire to help improve the lives of people in our community. This position requires a candidate who can listen to and communicate effectively with clients and volunteers alike.  Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Train, manage, supervise and schedule Soup Kitchen volunteers
  • Ensure volunteer staffing levels meet daily needs
  • Organize Soup Kitchen menu and insure volunteers have everything needed to prepare, serve and clean-up meal
  • Engage in strategic planning of the Soup Kitchen and other programs
  • Other duties as assigned based on agency need
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts or identify appropriate course of action

Position Requirements:

  • Positive attitude and excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong and professional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, patiently, and respectfully with a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to establish boundaries and set limits with a diverse population
  • Ability to, but not limited to, twist, bend, crouch, squat, and reach, and lift above shoulders including while on a ladder
  • Ability to pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner when working with community partners, clients and volunteers
