Education Program Manager

The Education Program Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining sexual violence education and prevention programs in Cumberland and York counties in Southern Maine.

The Education Program Manager is accountable to the Executive Director.

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, social work, women's studies or related field.  Equivalent life and work experience will be considered.
  • Understanding of sexual violence definitions and issues.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with curriculum development and/or violence prevention practices.
  • Experience with program marketing and relationship building. 
  • Excellent planning, organizational, written and oral communications skills.
  • Understanding of and dedication to SARSSM mission.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Familiarity with Southern Maine community organizations, schools and social services.
  • Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursable).

Ensure the overall implementation of SARSSM educational programs and agency outreach.

  • Oversee the ongoing development, marketing, and implementation of SARSSM’s educational programs.
  • Regularly assess and evaluate the education program to ensure it is effective and meets the needs of the community and funders.
  • Review existing resources and make recommendations for purchases.
  • Assist the Executive Director as requested.
  • Supervise the education staff to support their implementation of educational programming and other agency responsibilities.
  • Provide annual assessments of education staff.
  • Develop and maintain sustainable model for sexual violence prevention education in Southern Maine.
  • Oversee the implementation and marketing of SARSSM education programs.
  • Oversee the development and facilitation of educational groups for students, community members, and/or professionals.
  • Represent SARSSM on local violence prevention/education-related committees and conferences.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with schools, colleges/universities and other community organizations.
  • Make recommendations to schools, colleges, and universities on policies and procedures regarding sexual violence crime response and prevention plans, especially in response to school-wide crisis’ and epidemics.
  • Facilitate educational groups when needed.
  • Assist education staff in providing sexual violence education and prevention programs to students and community members as needed.
  • Assist in providing community outreach when needed, especially to at-risk populations.
  • Keep accurate records on program and education staff.
  • Ensure that the education program manual remains current.
  • Develop and maintain data collection and reporting systems.
  • Oversee the compilation of timely program statistics.
  • Prepare program reports for funding sources, SARSSM Board of Directors, Maine Coalition against Sexual Assault and the Executive Director.
  • Assist fundraising/development staff in creating and maintaining education program materials such as brochures.
  • Oversee the creation of educational handouts for students, community members and other program participants.
  • Oversee the management of online education and outreach accounts such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • Develop and maintain school-based education program packets, including evaluations and scheduling information.
  • Staff the crisis and support line when needed, including staff back-up rotations.
  • Supervise staff in direct service situations when Support Programs Manager is unavailable.
